A UK mom who was caught on camera dragging her child across the pavement in public is finally speaking out after being called a bad mom by strangers all over the world.
According to The Daily Mail, the shocking ordeal began when the unnamed mom was caught on camera dragging her on across a busy sidewalk in Liverpool.
Days later, however, the mom has decided to speak out, slamming people for judging her “before they know the situation.”
The mom, who has still asked to remain unnamed, revealed that her son had just thrown a massive tantrum right before a stranger turned on the camera.
Because her son was refusing to move an inch, the unnamed mom said she had no choice by to start dragging him.
“My son has autism, he has meltdowns and throws himself on the floor,” the controversial mom said. “What I am doing in that video is the only way I can move him.”
“He does it all the time and won't get up or let me pick him up. He just drops to the floor like a sack of spuds,” she added.
The shocking video, which was later shared on Twitter, instantly went viral, with people from all over the world calling the woman a bad mom for what she did.
The 31-year-old unnamed mother also took offense to the accusation that her son had fallen and she had simply refused to pick him up, instead deciding to treat him like a rag doll.
“People are making me out to be a bad mum - I am not a bad mum,” the mom said. “They should ask before they judge me. Only two women came up to me and I said 'he has severe autism.”
“And I would have told that to anyone who asked me, but people just stare at me and him and judge and think he is 'not normal',” she added. “He is normal he just has autism.”
The single mother then revealed that her son, who was reportedly diagnosed with autism at the age of two, reacts poorly around large crowds of people.
“I can't go out very often because he has these meltdowns. He doesn't like big crowds and whenever I take him out he could just kick off,” the frustrated mom explained. “People don't understand how hard it is having an autistic child, especially when they are so strong.”
“He has attacked me before and knocked me off my feet, but he doesn't know he is hurting me,” she added. “He can be the same with his friends. It is very stressful.”
“He isn't a naughty child, he has autism and he is very loving. And people just look at me like something is wrong with him,” she continued.
The mother also insisted that she keeps a close eye on her son to make sure he stays out of danger.
“I have the reins on him because he has no sense of danger. I try my best and people that know me know that I am a good mum,” she said. “People should just ask before they judge.”
The man who shot the now-viral video, however, said the whole scene was just very bizarre.
“I was walking through town and the kid fell over and then the woman saw the kid had fallen but kept on walking,” the man, Joe, explained. “The kid seemed fine with everything to be honest, it was people who saw it that seemed worse off. She walked on like that for a while.”
“It sort of caught everyone off guard really, nobody knew what to say or do,” he added.
