A male daycare owner in California has been arrested after it came to light that he had sexually abused a 5-year-old girl in his care.
According to KABC, 41-year-old Jose Guzman was arrested on Monday after his terrified victim told her mother that she had been sexually assaulted by him at daycare.
Police in Rancho Cucamonga say Guzman and his wife operate the daycare, which they called Guzman/Villarial Family Child Care, out of their own home.
The daycare has been in operation since 2012, according to KABC.
Authorities say they served the couple a warrant to search the home while Guzman was still being interviewed at the police station.
According to KABC, after searching the property, authorities found enough disturbing evidence to arrest Guzman on charges of suspicion of continuous sexual abuse of a child, lewd acts with a minor under 14, and sexual penetration by a foreign or unknown object.
While it is not known exactly how many children were being cared for by Guzman and his wife in their home at the time of the arrest, neighbors told KABC that police officers were outside the home on Monday directing parents to take their children to the station.
"Due to the detailed investigation, we actually reached out to our specialized investigation detail, crimes against children, so they came in and assisted with the interviews with the children that were currently attending that day care," said Deputy Jacob Bailey with Rancho Cucamonga police.
After investigators learned the horrific nature of Guzman’s crimes, he was booked into the West Valley Detention Center on $1 million bail.
Because authorities are certain that there are more victims that they do not know about yet, they are urging parents with children enrolled at the Guzman/Villarial Family Child Care to contact Rancho Cucamonga police at (909) 477-2800.
ABC 7 News shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, where hundreds of people opened up about their disgust for Guzman.
“Let me put a foreign object up his.......monster, is what he is! Scaring Children for life. stupid Wife too, she needs to be interrogated and I'm sure she somehow was aware too. Bless these poor Kids,” Rosie Roman commented.
“I won't blame no mother or father . Sometimes your left with no choice in order to keep a job to feed them.
