An Interview with Cym Marzan of Cazzapoeia
Tell us a little more about yourself.
Hello from the Philippines! I am a stay-at-home Christian wife and a mommy to a four-year-old princess, a one-year-old prince, and a one-month-old baby princess. My blog Cazzapoeia started in 2003 as a personal blog of my rants and raves. I chose that name because I liked the sound of it at that time. Cazzapoeia is my stylized name for my own constellation - my life. After I got married and had my eldest, I decided to turn it into a wife and mommy blog chronicling the stars of my life - my family. It is also for my family, especially for my daughter that I chose to stop working as bank personnel and stayed at home for. I wanted to personally take care of my child as it was hard to find a good nanny (we kept changing for different reasons) and she was beginning to act like a spoiled brat. She also developed an aversion to vegetables. It is quite challenging to be a parent these days, and blogging helps keep me sane.
What is the Human Heart Nature Shop? What types of products are sold? How are you able to balance having an online shop and being a mother at the same time?
Staying at home, it is at times difficult to be totally dependent on my hubby's income. So, I sell Human Nature products online through my blog. They are made by Gandang Kalikasan, Inc. I became a dealer just last year. Human Nature is a brand of natural hair and body skin care products that contain no harmful chemicals found in commercial ones. They are good for our bodies and the environment. The containers are also biodegradable. The ingredients are all sourced from the Philippines therefore providing a steady livelihood for Filipino farmers. The types of products include hair care like shampoo & conditioner, skin care like body butter, protective care like insect repellent oil/lotion, face care like moisturizer, and mineral make-up. Since being a mom to small children demands much time so that I can't stay in front of the computer for too long, I utilize a smart phone to check e-mails for orders and inquiries. I could do this even while breastfeeding. It also helps to have a wireless telephone for ordering and scheduling a pick-up-delivery because I move around the house so much. I help my eldest do her homework, I take time to play with my son and I take care of the youngest's needs.
We all know moms sometimes need a break, so what do you like to do to relax?
Recently, having time for myself is virtually non-existent with the new baby and exclusively directly breastfeeding her equals sleepless nights, it seems I am always on zombie mode. I try to relax by reading some blogs I enjoy. I also take a break by having hot chocolate and snacks or sweets. When I breastfeed, I do the side-lying position so I could have a bit of rest. Playing games on my cell phone also helps me feel relieved from stress.
What made you decide to begin blogging? What are some common topics you blog about? Do you have any advice for other moms who are thinking about starting a blog?
To be honest, I started blogging on a whim. I wanted to try expressing my thoughts online. Then I stopped after some time. I thought my blog was gone. I regained it in 2007 and wasn't very serious in updating it until 2009. Topics I blog about include parenting, mommyhood, family, children, food and a mixed bag of personal anecdotes. I'm not an expert on blogging but one piece of advice I want to give to moms who are thinking of starting a blog is that they write about what they love and are passionate about for they are building a community of like-minded people. Most of all, enjoy!
