An Interview with “Our Marriage Adventure” Blogger Stephanie Lee

Tell me about your family and your blog?

My family currently consists of myself, my husband Alex, and our two fur-babies, Beezle and Harley.  The blog is really a reflection of our lives.  In other words, the blog takes a real honest look at what happens after you say “I Do” and start living in a marriage, not just planning the wedding.  So far we’ve bought a house, struggled with infertility, and are starting the 365 Day Love Dare.

What has been your biggest struggle in trying to conceive?

So far I’d say the biggest struggle to overcome has been the diagnosis of infertility and the lack of medical insurance to cover treatment.  I never knew that insurance companies will help diagnose you as infertile, but refuse to cover treatment for infertility.  That blows my mind considering they could never get away with doing that to someone with, say, cancer.

Do you have any advice for other women and/or couples struggling with infertility?

The biggest one is trust your gut. If you have been trying and nothing is happening and your intuition says something is fishy, MAKE THE APPOINTMENT.  Secondly, have patience.  You will never notice babies and other pregnant women as much as you do when you are trying to conceive.  Lastly, get an app for your phone or a calendar you can carry on you at all times.  Track everything from your BBT (basal body temperature) to when you “had fun.”  Trust me, this may seem like overkill, but if you do get to the point of needing a doctor, you will need all of this info.  The app stores typically have a few great free apps for monitoring your monthly cycle that will also allow you to track the fun and BBT times.

What are your favorite brands and where do you buy them?

Honestly, I buy mostly store brands with the exception of L’Oreal.  One of the side effects of my infertility is severe acne.  L’Oreal makeup is the only makeup that does not irritate my skin and also covers the acne.  I cannot recommend them enough.

Are there any other blogs or sites you would recommend to other women struggling to conceive?

I would recommend Mother’s Hideaway Forum as a place for women who are struggling with conceiving, as well as other moms.  The forums are a great place to chat with other women/moms just like you and ask those questions that only someone else in your situation can answer.
